St. Moritz Art Masters 2012

The St. Moritz Art Masters is a unique and exclusive festival of the arts and culture. And, this year, Leica is again an official partner and will be engaged in various aspects of the world of photography: From exhibitions and photography workshops to sponsoring of up-and-coming photographers, who will be presenting their work in the course of the St. Moritz Art Masters.

The St. Moritz Art Masters is being held for the fifth time at various venues in the Engadin region from 24 August to 2 September, and promises visitors high-class outdoor installations, photography and exhibitions by prominent international artists.
This year, Leica will be showing portraits of musicians, captured during the recent Montreux Jazz Festival by Leica-photographer Michael Agel, in the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains (St. Moritz). All the images were captured with a Leica M Monochrom, which celebrated its premiere in May of this year. Michael Agel will also be shooting portraits of artists participating in the festival. The results be published later in collaboration with the organisers as an ‘Artist's Book'. Leica will be presenting a rotunda with ‘360 Degrees by HG Esch' on the forecourt of the Kempinski. The prominent architecture photographer shot a fascinating panorama of New York City with a Leica S2.
A further highlight is the presentation of an outdoor exhibition in the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz. Under the direction of the Swiss photographer Peter Vann, 25 students of the Engadin international boarding school captured impressions with Leica cameras. The resulting images, with the title ‘Blow up the Engadin' are a part of this year's St. Moritz Art Masters. In addition to exhibitions, Leica will be offering all guests and participating artists an exclusive opportunity to make use of Leica cameras or binoculars. During the festival, guests visiting the exhibition in the Kempinski Grand Hotel can register for the use of a Leica product for a limited period.
Leica's engagement at the festival also includes support for a two-day photography workshop with the well known photographers Steve McCurry, Amedeo M. Turello and Jock Sturges. The workshop will be held on 31 August and 1 September in the Hotel Nira Alpina (Silvaplana). Leica will be providing Leica S-System equipment and Leica M9 cameras for the use of photographers and participants.
